How do I calculate margin requirement for a stock trade?

How much should I risk per margin trade?

Most professional traders risk no more than 1–2% of total account capital per trade. With a $50,000 account and 2% risk rule, maximum loss per trade is $1,000. The Risk Manager tab uses this rule to calculate the correct position size in shares and dollars based on your stop-loss distance.

What is a good risk-reward ratio for margin trading?

A minimum 2:1 risk-reward ratio is generally recommended — meaning your target profit is at least twice your stop-loss distance. At 2:1, you need only a 34% win rate to be profitable.
